There are thousands of colours, textures and designs to choose from in the wallpaper world. For ideas and inspiration, browse our online gallery or visit us instore. Once you have chosen your wallpaper, check how to apply it properly. Check the back of the pattern book, or view the information online to help find the right products for your job, including size's and paste.


Wallpaper Types

There are three main types of wallpaper, according to how they are applied:

  • Pre-Pasted Wallpaper - Paste is already applied to the paper, and the paper needs to be soaked in a water trough to activate the paste.
  • Un-Pasted Wallpaper - Paste must be applied to the paper. This can be done with a brush or a pasting machine.
  • Paste the Wall - Paste is applied to the wall rather than the paper. This is the easiest to hang (and remove - it simply peels off in one piece).


What You Need

Like any DIY project, it's easy if you have the correct equipment.

What tools you will need will depend on the type of paper you've chosen, but the below checklist is a good starting point:

  • Paint roller and/or brushes
  • Scissors and a knife with a sharp blade
  • Sponges
  • Water trough
  • Tape measure
  • Plumb-line or spirit level
  • The correct adhesive and size
  • Ladder
  • Bucket
  • Drop cloths
